You will also visit some of Taiwan’s most incredible sites. You will learn about the colorful culture and traditions of some of Taiwan’s ethnic minority groups.

Itinerary


Day 1 Arrival/Taipei

When you arrive in Taipei, your local guide will meet you at the airport and you will be driven to your hotel. The rest of the night is yours to relax, or head out into the city for an adventure on your own.


Day 2 Taipei

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum, National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine, Tienshuei Old Street, Longshan Temple

In the morning, after having breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The hall, surrounded by a park was erected in the memory of Chiang Kai-shek, former President of the Republic of China. You will then visit the National Palace Museum.

The museum houses artifacts collected by China’s Emperors and have some of the most famous Chinese artwork in the world. After visiting the museum, you will be driven to the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine. The shrine is dedicated to Chinese who died in war. Its architecture is incredible.

You will then be driven to the Tienshuei Old Street. The street should not be missed. It is home to many shops selling Taiwanese arts, and local snacks. You will then be driven to Longshan Temple, the oldest temple in Taiwan.


Day 3 Taipei/Taichung/Chiayi

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Sun Moon lake, Wenwu Temple, Holy Monk Shrine, Ethnic Minority Village

After you have had breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Sun Moon Lake. The lake is located outside of Taipei in Taichung. The lake is surrounded by mountains and is a gorgeous area.

You will then visit Wenwu Temple. This Confucian temple is located near the shore of the lake. Located in the temple complex is the Holy Monk Shrine, the burial place of Xuan Zang, the Buddhist monk who brought Buddhist sutras to China from India.

You will then visit a Taiwan Ethnic Minority Village. You will get to witness the ancient traditions and cultures of one of Taiwan’s ethnic minority groups.


Day 4 Chiayi/Alishan/Kaohsiung

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Alishan Tea Plantation

Special Cultural Experience: Visit tea production area and learn how Gaoshan (High Mountain) Oolong Tea is made.

In the morning, after having had your breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to Alishan Mountain, where you will visit the Alishan Tea Plantation. Alishan Mountain is the production center for Gaoshan Oolong Tea, one of the most famous Chinese teas on earth.

You will see how the tea is produced and get to see the Taiwan tea ceremony.

You will then be driven to the city of Kaohsiung, where you will visit the Kaohsiung harbor, the second busiest harbor in Asia.


Day 5 Kaohsiung/Kenting/Taitung

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Kenting National Park, Maopitou, Oluanpi Lighthouse

In the morning, after you have had breakfast in your hotel, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Kenting National Park. The park is home to the most beautiful natural forest in Taiwan.

You will then visit Maopitou, the southern-most tip of Taiwan Island. The landscape here is stunning and it is a wonderful place to enjoy the sea. You will then visit the Oluanpi Lighthouse. Built in the late Qing Dynasty, the lighthouse open to the public.


Day 6 Taitung/Hualien

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Tainan ethnic minority village, Bulong ethnic minority valley

After breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to Taitung, where you will visit the Tainan Ethnic Minority Village. The village is beautiful and a wonderful place for you to learn what life is like for Taiwan’s ethnic minority groups. After visiting the village, you will be driven to the Bulong Ethnic Minority Valley. You will then be driven to Hualien city


Day 7 Hualien

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Tzuchi Temple, Liyu Lake, Taiwan Black Tea Plantation

Special Cultural Experience: You will get to pick, and help in the production of your own Taiwan Black Tea.

In the morning, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to Tzuchi Temple. The temple is a peaceful oasis and its architecture is truly amazing. You will then be driven to Liyu Lake to enjoy its natural beauty. After visiting the temple and the lake, you will be driven to the Taiwan Black Tea Plantation where you will have the opportunity to pick, process, and learn how to brew your own tea. It is a wonderful way to get a first hand knowledge of one of China’s ancient living cultures.


Day 8 Hualien/Taipei

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Taroko National Park, Chingshui Cliff, Chiufen Village

In the morning, your local guide will meet you, and you will be driven to the Taroko National Park. Known as one of the “Seven Wonders of Asia”, the park is exceptionally beautiful. The area is known for its natural beauty and flora and fauna. Its narrow ravine was created by the Liwu River. You will then be driven back to Taipei.

On the way, you will visit the Chingshui Cliff. The cliff has a sheer drop of more than 1,000 meters. You will also visit Chiufen Village en route to take in the sunset there. It is famous for its views.


Day 9 Taipei/Departure

Meals: Breakfast

On this day you will be free until your local guide meets you and you are driven to the Taipei International Airport for your flight home.
