Days 1 - 2 Beijing Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel. We walk through the incredible expanse of Tiananmen Square before continuing on foot to the splendid Forbidden City. Enjoy a traditional tea ceremony before heading into one of Beijing’s few remaining hutongs (back streets) for lunch in a local home and a rickshaw ride. See the city’s famous Drum Tower and witness an amazing acrobatic performance. Days 3 - 4 Overnight Train & Xian Travel to the Great Wall at Mutianyu and enjoy a delicious Peking duck dinner before boarding our comfortable overnight train to Xian. We wander through the fascinating Muslim Quarter, visit the Big Goose Pagoda and have the chance to indulge in a sumptuous dumpling banquet. Day 5 - 7 Guilin & Yangshuo Marvel at the Terracotta Warriors then fly to Guilin, one of China’s most attractive cities. Take a stroll along the riverfront, visit the night market and enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Li River, the perfect opportunity to soak up the region’s renowned limestone karst scenery. In charming Yangshuo, participate in a tai chi lesson, take in a traditional evening show and explore local villages by bicycle. Days 8 - 9 Hong Kong With its soaring skyscrapers and glittering harbor, Hong Kong is mesmerising. In your free time here, you can ride the Peak Tram to Hong Kong Island’s highest point or visit the Temple Lane Night Markets for a spot of bargain hunting. Your journey ends with an airport transfer on day 9. Trip grading: EASY Suitable for travellers with an average level of fitness and independent mobility. Fly between major destinations, plus one overnight train journey. What's included: 7 nights hotel accommodation and 1 overnight train (soft sleeper 4-berth shared cabin), flights as specified, all road transport by air-conditioned vehicles, all sightseeing as specified, entrance fees, Western tour leader based on a minimum of 7 travelers, local English-speaking guides throughout, arrival and departure transfers, breakfast daily and 2 lunches.
