Tour Summary

This fantastic tour was carefully crafted to introduce some of the ancient colorful cultures of China’s many Ethnic Minority Groups.

This tour will take you to Kunming where you will visit its famous Stone forest before being taken to Erhai Lake and the Xizhou Bai Ethnic Minority fishing village to see how the local Bai people have lived and fished for centuries.

You will then visit the Three Pagodas located outside of the Dali Ancient Town. In the Dali Ancient Town, you will see an entire city filled with beautiful ancient buildings built by the Bai ethnic minority group.

After visiting Dali you will head to the Zhou village famed for its traditional tie-dying. In the Lijiang Ancient Town you will see a beautifully preserved ancient town and see how locals have lived for centuries. In Longsheng located near Guilin, you will see how three minority groups have learned to live together on their famous terraced rice fields.

You will also take a cruise down the stunning Li River to see one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Itinerary

Kungming's Stone Forest

Day 1 Arrival/Kunming

Your local guide will meet you on your arrival in Kunming to escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is for you to relax, or go out to explore this great city on your own.

Day 2 Kunming

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Stone Forest

In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to Kunming’s famous Stone Forest, an area of bizarrely shaped rock formations formed by millennia of rain and weather.

Bai Minority Girls

Day 3 Kunming/Dali

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Sites Visited: Erhai Lake, Xizhou Bai Ethnic Minority Village, Three Pagodas, Dali Ancient Town

In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will escort you to the airport for your flight to Dali. Upon your arrival in Dali, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.

You will then be driven to Erhai Lake, which is a beautiful lake surrounded by ancient temples.

You will then visit the ancient fishing village of Xizhou which is inhabited by the Bai Minority Group, where you will witness their ancient and colorful culture.

After visiting the area you will be driven to the Three Pagodas near Dali Ancient Town. The Three pagodas are the only example of their kind in the world and are spectacular.

You will then visit Dali Ancient Town, which is in a state of excellent preservation and filled with ancient homes of the Bai Ethnic Minority Group.

Lijang Ancient Town

Day 4 Dali/Lijiang

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Lijiang Ancient Town, Lion Hill, Zhou Village

In the morning after having breakfast in your hotel, you will be driven to the city of Lijiang.

Along the way you will stop at the Zhou village, inhabited by members of the Bai Ethnic Minority group, the village is famous for its cobalt blue tie-dyed cloth.

Upon your arrival in Lijiang, your local guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Lijiang Ancient Town.

While strolling through the beautifully preserved ancient town, you will visit Lion Hill, which is located inside the center of the town.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Day 5 Lijiang

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Sites Visited: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Baisha Mural Paintings, Black Dragon Pool Park, the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture.

After having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. This gorgeous mountain will offer spectacular bird’s eye views of the surrounding area.

You will then be driven to visit the Baisha Mural Paintings. The murals are unique ancient religious murals which blend Buddhist, Daoist, and Muslim religious themes.

You will then visit the Black Dragon Pool Park and the Museum of Naxi Dongba Culture located inside.

Dali Ancient Town

Day 6 Lijiang/Kunming

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: West Hill and Dragon Gate, the Flower Market

After breakfast, your guide will meet you and escort you to the airport for your flight back to Kunming.

Upon your arrival in Kunming, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.

You will then be driven to Kunming’s Flower Market which is a huge market which sells a huge selection of gorgeous flowers.

You will then visit West Hill and Dragon Gate. The mountain is gorgeous and inhabited by a huge variety of plant and animal species.

Longshen Terraced Rice Fields

Day 7 Kunming/Guilin

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

You will be free on this day until your local guide escorts you to the airport for your flight to Guilin.

Upon your arrival in Guilin, your local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.

The rest of the day is yours to rest, or step out into this picturesque city on your own.

Day 8 Guilin/Longsheng/Guilin

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited:Longji Terraced Rice Fields

After having breakgast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Longsheng Terraced Rice Fields, the dragon’s backbone.

The area is populated with Zhuang, dong, Yao, and Miao Ethnic Minority groups.

Their traditional villages located on the sides of the mountains are spectacular.

In the evening you will be driven back to Guilin.

Third Sister Liu

Day 9 Guilin/Yangshuo

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Sites Visited: Li River Cruise

Special Cultural Experiences: Impressions of Liusanjie (Third Sister Liu)

After breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven to the Zhujiang Pier (40 minutes). There you will boat your boat for your Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo.

The scenery along the Li River is often referred to as the most beautiful under heaven. Upon docking in Yangshuo, your guide will escort you to your hotel.

After checking in, you will be taken down Yangshuo’s famous West Street, known for its shops, bars, and eateries.

In the evening you will dine on Yangshuo’s amazing Li River Beer Fish, followed by the Impressions of Liusanjie (Third Sister Liu) performance.

The Performance, created by Zhang Yimou, China’s premiere movie director and director of the Beijing Olympics’ Opening Ceremony, is made up of hundreds of people and is performed on the Li River with the mountains as the backdrop. It is an unforgettable experience.

Dali's Three Pagodas

Day 10 Guilin/Departure

Meals: Breakfast

Sites Visited: Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo (Wave Subduing) Hill, Reed Flute Cave

After having breakfast in your hotel, your guide will meet you and you will be driven back to Guilin.

Upon arriving in Guilin, you will be driven to Fubo Hill. Located on the Li River, the beautiful karst rock hill is the centerpiece of a small park.

After, you will be driven to Reed Flute Cave. The cave’s many bizarre stalagmites and stalactites make visitors feel like they have stepped into another world.

You will then be driven to Elephant Trunk Hill, the symbol of Guilin, which offers commanding views of Guilin City and the Li River.

After visiting Guilin, you will then be driven to the airport for your flight back home.
